How was 2024 so far this year? Or why did my monthly Blog have a 9 month gap? I am glad you asked.

Since January, ACDC has been rebuilding our facility between classes. Here are the improvements so far.

The Shop

  1. Installed a massive heat pump to cut down on burning “Fossil Fuels”. Extremely quiet.
  2. Remodeled Krista’s office with a small heat pump system of her own.
  3. Insulated 3 walls in the classroom area to cut down on some drafts. It is cold in the winter in Massachusetts.
  4. Added a “Jim Linder” style scope training area that allows techs to practice scope set up, functions and known good wave forms.
  5. Updated the Kitchen with more great food, terrific coffees and teas, plus healthy snacks.
  6. Installed a Tesla and a J1772 level 2 EVSE in the shop.
  7. Created a “self-serve” high voltage glove sizing and purchasing spot to speed up the first day of class.
  8. Installed LED lighting.
  9. Opened the “ACDC Store” with inventory so that what you use in class, you can buy and take back to your shop. Also self-serve.
  10. Remodeled the bathrooms.
  11. Chris (our R&D tech) had his 50 foot bay repainted.

The ACDC people

  1. Deb (my wife) retired but missed being at ACDC so she is working part time calling up our friends and customers. Deb also attends most of our trade shows. Welcome back.
  2. Craig (myself) cut back my hours in the summer to one day less per week. More motorcycling and time with the grandkids.
  3. Aiden Neery (at ACDC since he was 18) now has two jobs. Two days a week at ACDC with many projects to help us grow and three days a week at a local EV used car dealership and repair shop. He brings real world experience to ACDC every week.
  4. Chris Bray finished up his one year with us and I don’t know how we got along without him. His resourcefulness is extremely helpful. Chris came to us with 15 years of experience as a Ford trained dealership tech, reaching Senior Master Status.
  5. Krista Shaw is a month short of one year at ACDC. Her skill in the office and attention to detail is exactly what a rapidly expanding high-tech company needs. Part time (has two young children), Krista works Monday to Thursday mornings until about 1pm. She has a degree in mechanical engineering. As we say out here, she is “Wicked Smaht”.
  6. Onix Melendez is new and is our social media, data base, bi-lingual (Spanish), all around co-worker to all of us that need help when needed. He also is well known in the area if you are a Music Artist and need videos created for your work.
  7. Kena Dudac finished her electrical degree at WPI late last year, got a great job and now works remotely from home on some weekends to keep the web site up-to-date and working.

Putting all this together required a lot of work and I quite frankly drop a few things to get through it. It was worth it, as ACDC moves into a new era of helping decarbonize cars, trucks and more.
